Every year your Vice President Student Involvement works closely with our members for Movember. The Movember charity is a charity that is close to many of our members and focuses on raising awareness for men’s mental health as well as looking in on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. Suicide prevention is often brushed under the carpet and is a very neglected topic.

Traditionally we hold shave downs at the start of November and host fundraising events throughout the month. We encourage everyone to grow their mo and if you can't grow one, we still love it when you're there to show support and help us fundraise.

Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research, and transforming the way health services reach and support men. Each year we have a range of different fundraising events going on over the course of the month. From raffles to shave downs and even a charity cycle, there's never a quiet week during Movember.

In 2021 we set up a charity cycle which would start at the High Wycombe Campus before heading across to the Aylesbury Campus and back to Uxbridge and then finishing back at the High Wycombe Campus. The cycle route covered around 60 miles to represent the average of 60 men who commit suicide every hour. We are delighted to say that this year we were able to raise £2,100 which has been the most raised by the Union. A massive thank you to everyone who donated and took part in any of our fundraisers, it all makes a massive difference.
