To ensure the Students’ Union is representing all members to the best of our ability, Student Voice Officers are appointed to represent students from groups with shared interests, experiences, or backgrounds. These officers play a crucial role in ensuring the Students’ Union is diverse, inclusive, and community driven.

Student Voice Officers plan and lead campaigns to enhance the student experience, especially for the groups they represent. They participate in Union and University committees, communicate with key stakeholders, and give feedback on reports regarding Union operations. Additionally, they promote and support Students’ Union events, ensuring a high-quality experience for all members.

If you are interested in representing the views of students from a similar background to yourself, then please get in touch with the Representation team at surepresentation@bnu.ac.uk.

Meet Your Student Voice Officers

Our team of Student Voice Officers represent you and campaign for positive change. Here’s who they are and what drives them.

Portrait of Alisha Tehseen
Alisha Tehseen (she/her) I was motivated to become a Student Voice Officer to ensure that student perspectives are actively represented in university decisions. This year, I aim to enhance communication between students and staff, promote meaningful feedback, and contribute to a more inclusive and responsive academic environment.
Portrait of Ben Gibbons
Ben Gibbons (he/him) I chose to become a Student Voice Officer because I’m passionate about making a positive impact on the student experience here at Bucks. This role gives me a unique opportunity to support and represent my fellow students, while also allowing me to grow personally and professionally by working alongside some of the key people who shape our university.
Portrait of Caitlin Day
Caitlin Day (she/her) I want to advocate for minority and overlooked groups in our community. I am highly passionate about women’s safety and this role gives me the flexibility to plan a campaign around this interest. The team are so supportive and always ensure that I can achieve goals. My aim is to improve the university experience for women and help ensure they feel safe in and around campus.
Portrait of Ellie Lee
Ellie Lee This year, I am striving to achieve campaigns for Allied Health Students studying at Uxbridge and Aylesbury Campuses, to bring some vibrancy and additional skills and activities to the Healthcare Student Experience. I am also currently working on Bucks Broadcast: Could You Be A Leader, which is a campaign for widening participation and visibility for student leadership opportunities and their partnership in governance to shape the university student experience.
Portrait of Evie Davies
Evie Davies (she/her) I aim to help others like me who need a little bit of support but often slip through the cracks or don’t know how to ask for the help they need. I have ADHD and I feel as though the disorder is often misunderstood, especially in women, meaning our struggles often go unnoticed and we miss out on much needed support. I want to be there to help those who need it and advocate for you.
Portrait of Freya Carson
Freya Carson (she/her) During my time as a student voice officer, I worked to make more inclusive spaces for students, such as creating more mixers for students to attend and bringing attention to disability and mental health awareness days. As someone with a disability, I am particularly passionate about supporting disabled students and advocating for the needs of women-identifying students as well. I want to use my role to make sure every student feels supported and heard by the university.
Portrait of Kerri Bowen
Kerri Bowen Despite being a mature student, I wanted to get involved when I joined BNU. That so far has not been attainable due to a lack of interest at Aylesbury. This role allows me to spread the word so there is a fun and sociable aspect. I am an adult nursing student with lots of healthcare experience which means I am used to listening to concerns and liaising with lots of parties. Furthermore, I am extremely passionate about ensuring fairness for all including those with Autism.
Portrait of Ritamary Benny
Ritamary Benny I decided to become an SVO because I believe that every student should feel confident and comfortable speaking up—whether it’s about what’s working well or what could be improved. I want to be a strong and approachable link between students and staff, and help bring transparency and action to the feedback process. If you’ve got something to say—big or small—I want to hear it.
Portrait of Theo Richens
Theo Richens I chose to become a Student Voice Officer to make sure students are able to focus on their studies without having to worry about putting food on their plate. I will strive to make sure that students voices and issues are not only heard but also, so action is taken. Speaking from personal experience, academic and non-academic issues can be incredibly daunting especially away from home when you are ten miles or one thousand miles away.
