The Warehouse & Logistics Operative plays a key role in ensuring School of Outdoors’ equipment, vehicles, and logistics are prepared to a high standard to support the safe and successful delivery of outdoor education and DofE events.
Working under the direction of the Resourcing & Operations Manager, the Warehouse & Logistics Operative is responsible for preparing, checking, maintaining, and returning equipment, supporting vehicle loading and unloading, and transporting equipment to and from events when required.
This is a practical, hands-on role that directly supports instructors and the delivery of high-quality outdoor experiences for young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse & Equipment Preparation
- Prepare equipment packs for events, ensuring the correct quantities and standards are met
- Check, clean, and maintain equipment before and after events
- Report damaged, missing, or unsafe equipment
- Support stock checks and basic inventory management
- Assist with equipment maintenance and replacement processes
Event Logistics & Transport
- Load and unload vehicles for events
- Transport equipment to and from events when required
- Ensure equipment is safely packed and secured
- Support last minute changes or urgent equipment requests
Warehouse Standards & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment
- Follow health & safety and manual handling procedures
- Support compliance checks and inspections
- Identify and report hazards or risks
Vehicles & Trailers (where applicable)
- Carry out basic vehicle checks
- Assist with preparing vans and trailers
- Report vehicle defects or issues promptly

Pay, Benefits and Hours
Salary & Working Pattern
Hourly Rate: £13.71 – £14.42 per hour, depending on experience
We are looking to appoint two Warehouse & Logistics Operatives to cover six working days per week.
This could be arranged flexibly, for example:
· One person working 3 days and the other person 3 days, or
· One person working 4 days and the other person 2 days
Each working day will be 8 hours.
We are open to discussing how these days are split to find a pattern that works for both the business and the successful candidates.
