Safe Spaces: Disability History Month

UK Disability History Month (UKDHM) is an annual event in the United Kingdom that takes place from November 22 to December 22. It is a time to recognize and celebrate the history, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities, while also raising awareness about the challenges they face. The initiative seeks to promote understanding, challenge stereotypes, and advocate for the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities.

To honour Disability History Month, we are holding a Safe Space for our disabled community on the 11th December at 4pm, online. Safe spaces can function differently and have different purposes, but with the ultimate purpose of helping individuals to feel safe, be vulnerable, authentic, and honest. This space is being held to allow disabled staff and students to have conversations and ask questions that would be difficult in other environments.
