The Athletic Union Dinner is a chance for everybody to celebrate the years sporting achievements and acknowledge those who's performances have truly stood out amongst the crowd. If you would like to nominate someone for an award please complete the nomination form below.

Coach of the Year
Awarding recognition to a coach who has made an outstanding contribution to the team both on and off the field.
Fresher of the Year
Recognition of outstanding achievement or performance by a fresher in their first year at university.
Captain of the Year
This award is for the captain who has performed their duties at an exceptional level all year, showing dedication and a commitment to their team.
RAG contributor of the year
An award to recognise the club who has gone above and beyond and involved all their members in fundraising for our two RAG charities.
Team of the Year
This award recognises the most successful team of the year in their field of play and league achievements.
Committee Member of the Year
The committee member who has gone above and beyond their duties to the club – impacting and developing their club over the year.
Club of the Year
An award to recognise an entire club based on their overall success, achievements and conduct throughout the year.
Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year
Honouring the year’s best male and female whose performance most embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and achievement. We recognise two individuals whose dedication and commitment to their club/sport has been exceptional.
Players’ Player
An award to celebrate a player who has stood out during a season, as recognised by their fellow team members. This player may have had an exceptional impact on the team’s success in terms of commitment to training and match play.
Most Improved Player
An award to celebrate an individual’s notable improvement throughout the year, attendance and attitude for all training and matches will be taken into account. Going the extra mile outside of compulsory training to improve themselves as much as possible.
Contribution to Sport
Recognition of a person or people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty over a prolonged period of time. It also measures how their action and contributions have had a positive impact on sport at Bucks – this could be someone who has achieved ultimate success impacting on their club/sport or enhancing the Universities sporting prowess.

Hall of Fame


Bucks Students’ Union instituted its Hall of Fame in 2014. It recognises the most exceptional sporting contributions amongst the student body at Buckinghamshire New University. The Athletic Union Awards Panel meet annually to decide whether any new inductees, current or alumni, are to be bestowed the honour of having their shirt hung in the Gateway building.
