What is PAL?
Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) is a Student Led Support Programme that helps build academic confidence, develop study skills and connect foundation year (FY) students with BNU ser-vices, all in a relaxed, informal space.
Led by trained PAL Leaders (that could be you), PAL sessions offer:
• Friendly academic discussions
• Shared learning experiences
• Study tips and tricks
• A space to ask BNU questions
• Support FY international students
• Signposting to BNU support (wellbeing,
mental health, finance, academic help etc.)

What do PAL Leaders do?
You’ll facilitate sessions for foundation year students from your related course or college. You won’t be teaching or grading. Just helping peers through conversation, study guidance and signposting.
• Complete mandatory trainings
• Run sessions online, in-person one-to-one
or in small groups
• Support students socially and academically
• Promote PAL and other BNU services
• Submission of reports and timesheets for
payment

A PAL Leader must be
• Available for whole Academic Year 2025/26
• Must connect to FY course staff & students
• Work both independently and supervised
• Work closely with peer support coordinator

What You’ll Get
• £12.83/hour – BNU A-typical work contract
• Paid trainings – before starting and during the year
