We currently support over 25 societies, however we understand that we do not have a society for all interests or hobbies. This can change as we encourage the start-up of new societies here at BNU and we will give you the full support and guidance to do so.
Stuck for ideas on what you can set up? Here are a few examples:
- Pokemon Society
- Lego Society
- Aviation
- Nursing
- Fashion
- Theme Park Society
- Minigolf
- Go Karting
- Parent Society
- Wine and Cheese
- Disney
The process for setting up a society is below but if you want to discuss this beforehand, feel free to pop into the Students' Union office or message susocieties@bnu.ac.uk.
Step 1 - Find at least three students to start your committee. You must have a Chair, Vice Chair, and Finance Manager, but you can have more committee members. Role descriptions and other useful roles can be found in the Societies Handbook.
Step 2 - Submit a Society Constitution, Risk Assessment and Minisite form and send this to daniel.lawrence@bnu.ac.uk.
Step 3 - The Activities Coordinator (Recreational Sport and Societies) will review the documents and contact the society committee members to invite them in for a meeting and undertake training for the committee.
Step 5 - The Activities Coordinator (Recreational Sport and Societies) will create the society and memberships added to the website to be able to purchase.
Step 6 - The Activities Coordinator (Recreational Sport and Societies) will work with you to organise a first session to get the society active.
