At Uxbridge, your Students’ Union office is based on the first floor of the building, just around the corner from Pulse café. We are open from Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm and 9am-4.30pm on Fridays.

We run recreational trips, additional skills sessions, recreational sport, volunteering opportunities and societies, such as Midwifery, Nursing, Paramedicine and Physician Associate societies (check out the societies page for more info on societies). Scroll to the bottom of the page to see what events are taking place on the campus and in the local area.

Alongside this, we have an independent and confidential Advice Centre on campus with a specially trained advisor and more available in High Wycombe. They offer essential support and guidance on a wide range of issues and if they can’t help, they’ll always direct you to the right place. Booking an appointment is simple and we offer a range of ways for you to complete your appointment – face to face, via phone, via Teams or via email. Just head to the Advice Centre section of the website or email suadvice@bnu.ac.uk for more information.

We also run the Student Rep scheme, enabling you to make a positive change in and around your course and get rewarded for the work that you do. It couldn’t be simpler to get involved. For more information about student representation at the Uxbridge Campus or to find out who your student rep is, please email surepresentation@bnu.ac.uk.

You name it, we do it. For more information, or to see what you can get involved with, check out our posterboards pop into the office or head to our What's On page.  You can also read more about our specific Uxbridge offer here.

Transport

Helping you get from A - B, whether that's commuting to campus or attending a social event, we're here to help

We run a free, door-to-door bus service for students and staff between the High Wycombe and Uxbridge Campuses (with a valid Buckinghamshire New University ID card). You can view the current timetable on our website. Please note that whilst endeavouring to offer the highest standard of service to students and staff, this service is limited by vehicle capacity. Once this limit is reached, the bus cannot exceed this amount. If you miss the bus or the bus is at maximum capacity, please use alternative travel (e.g. public bus).

If you organise an event involving large numbers (ten people or more) of students or staff travelling between campuses, on a specific date and time, please inform the Students' Union by calling 01494 601 600 or emailing union@bnu.ac.uk

If you miss the Campus Link bus or the bus is at maximum capacity, please use alternative travel. Your connecting bus services are the Carousel buses; look for service numbers 102 or 104. This is a public bus where you need to pay to ride. The bus fare is £3, and this can be paid by card or cash. To get this service:

  • If you are travelling to High Wycombe, you will need to walk to the bus stop on the Uxbridge High Street.

  • If you are travelling to Uxbridge, you can catch the bus from either the High Wycombe Bus Station, High Wycombe Oxford Road, or High Wycombe High Street.

If you have a mobile device, you can search the campus locations on an app like Google Maps and see the bus stops and also the bus routes.

If you are commuting from a London borough, we can help you apply for a student Oyster card.

The Oyster photocard gives students 30% off the price of adult-rate Travelcards and Bus and Tram pass season tickets.  There are different Oyster Cards for students, and you must ensure you apply for the correct card and meet the criteria. More information is available here.

Any queries regarding Oyster cards should be directed to natasha.neal@bnu.ac.uk

Cost of Living Support

As part of the campaign to support students with the cost-of-living, we have a variety of schemes running to support students. From schemes to tackle food poverty within the student community, to resources to support you and the option to purchase cheap household goods, we offer a range of services to support you.

This scheme is part of ‘The Big Bucks Meal Deal’ which is funded by BNU and offered by Bucks Students’ Union.
We run a free breakfast scheme on a first come first serve basis at the Uxbridge Campus on a Tuesday and Thursday between 8:30 – 10am. You need to bring your Student ID with you and head to the Students’ Union office on 1st floor to collect. There are 2 options available:

Option 1: Porridge, Croissant, Apple Juice, Hot Drink (tea or coffee)
Option 2: Strawberry Nutrigrain Bar, Croissant, Apple Juice, Hot Drink (tea or coffee)

To support our cost-of-living work, we are offering a limited number of freezer meals available to collect and heat on site. This is free thanks to The Big Deal.
There is a small selection of meals available and a limited number to collect across the days. You must be signed up in advance to collect. You can sign up for these on the What’s On page (or keep scrolling to the event at the end of the page).
You can sign up and collect for the following days:

  • Monday (10 meals available)
  • Wednesday (5 meals available)
  • Friday (5 meals available)

Eligibility for the meals:

  • You must be signed up in advance
  • You must be a student studying at the Uxbridge Campus
  • You must have your student ID on collection
  • You can only collect one meal per week

These meals are subject to availability.

If you have any questions about this scheme, please email suuxbridge@bnu.ac.uk

Continuing with our cost-of-living support, we have opened Rusty’s Refill station at the Uxbridge Campus. Head to the Students’ Union office on the 1st floor. Here you can purchase key household items, toiletries, and cooking ingredients at a much lower cost to that of your local supermarket. Head in with your own container to purchase what you need. Whether it is rice for your meals, toilet roll, shampoo, or laundry pods, know that you are putting money back in your pocket and being sustainable.

If you have any questions about the station, please either head into the office or email suuxbridge@bnu.a.cuk.

This scheme allows you to get discounts on food and drink items from any of the Students’ Union catering outlets, including Pulse café at the Uxbridge Campus. For just £12 for the year (or £7 for six months), you can expect discounts like 10% off hot drinks as well as other offers throughout the year.

If you have any questions about this scheme, please contact union@bnu.ac.uk or head into one of our offices to speak to our staff.
